Summary
Because of the cold war the US government made some dramatic changes. A large one was the change of the department of defence. They started to include all parts of the military within to try and reduce confusion with orders and missions. The NSC (National Security Council) was what it was called and they were there to advise the president on matters concerning the self defence of the nation. The CIA was also created as a result of the cold war. The CIA was meant as an foreign espionage agency and intelligence collection agency. They gathered information from all different countries in the world in case the information became useful at some point.
